Methyl Ethel: Scream Whole (Track of the Week)

Perth's own Methyl Ethyl have released a truly wonderful third full length called Triage. It makes me feel like I'm a wealthy old school money tycoon living in Monaco and enjoying evenings of playing Baccarat. This track really puts me in that fantasy....

Hedvig Mollstead Trio Shreds The Universe (Album of the Week)

Power trios of the world unite! Your style is still alive and strong in the form of Notway's own Hedvig Mollstead Trio. Formed by guitarist Hedvig Mollstead Thomassen, this group brings new meaning to the term "jazz odyssey." Their latest effort, Smells Funny, is a deep space exploration of aural delight. It's a never ending set closer at every Woodstock in every time period and dimension. My mind was completely blown, pieced back together, and blown again!

Here's one of the six tracks on the record.

Cherry Glazerr: Wasted Nun (Track of the Week)

LA's own Cherry Glazerr are a fab fuzzpop band that have been making some mighty fine music in the 20 teens. Their music draws me back to the mid 90's when every indie band had the certain sound that was sweeping the nation. Sadly, we don't hear much of it anymore. We also don't hear bands like this who have clearly down their homework and listened to The Velvet Underground, Oasis, and French psychedelic pop.

Here is the best track from their third full length, Stuffed and Ready (great title, btw)

Toro Y Moi Says His Peace (Album of the Week)

Who would have thought that South Carolina (of all places) would have produced the heir apparent to Friendly Fires chillwave dominance? Toro Y Moi  has been making great music for this entire decade and his latest effort, Outer Peace, is completely wonderful.

It's perfect music to play when you get home from the club with friends at your place and you just don't want to go to bed. There's many romantic feels as well to this latest collection of tracks. So late night bedroom activities mix nicely with this record. It's also great workout music for those exercise minded folks out there. The first time I heard it I was on the treadmill and time just flew by!

Here is my favorite track...

Rival Sons: Do Your Worst (Track of the Week)

Long Beach's own Rival Sons are a fantastic example of how retro rock should be done. There is a bit of revival going on with bands like this and, as a child of the 80's, it makes me very happy!

Feral Roots is the latest release from Rival Sons and it's completely wonderful. Their style brings me back to those halcyon days of lighters in the air, women in tight blue jeans, and amazing hippie hair. Here is the opening track...
