Liverpool's own Circa Waves are back with Never Going Under. Their fifth long player is honestly their best so far in their nearly decade old career. The perfect pop sound is plentiful on this record. It's all the things I love and more about dudes with guitars.
Margo Price is back with a wonderful new album called Strays. These ten tracks are a most excellent way to start off the year. It's nice to see her take more of a pop turn while still maintaining her deep country roots.
One of my favorite bands of all time is back with a brand-spanking new record. The Subways, aka the pride of Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, have returned with Uncertain Joys, a more pop-driven record than their previous releases. Check out the title track
The album still has that signature sound, though. Witness!
It's so wonderful to have this guitar band back in action!
Glasgow's own Belle & Sebastian continue their prolific ways with Late Developers, an album that finds them firmly embracing guitar-based power pop. Their ongoing quest to find adventure in new musical frontiers if most refreshing.
The pride of Oxford is back with a fantastic new record called Turn The Car Around. Gaz Coombes is far more introspective on his fourth release, showing a real talent for softer ballads. The album still has his signature sound of bloody mags Brit Rock.
Iggy Pop is kicking off 2023 the right way with a brand spanking new release called Every Loser, a perfect choice for the first official new release of the year. It's an extremely fine collection of songs that showcase why he is still a rock god.
My first post of the new year is going to be about a man whom I dream of being at least once a week. Morris Day!So much of his onstage and offstage persona is hilarious and amazing who wouldn't want to be him? Of course, he's from my home town so that is just the icing on the cake.
The North Minneapolis native has a new record out that is tearing up the R&B charts. Last Call might be his final release and, if it is, what a swan song! It's filled with slick grooves, a star-studded cast, and is easily his best solo effort. Ain't nobody bad like Morris!!
