Inhaler: Cuts and Bruises (Album of the Week)

The pride of Dublin is back with yet another shovel-to-the-head stunner of a record. Cuts and Bruises is shimmery guitar pop at its finest. With this sophomore effort, Inhaler has officially become a top-tier "dudes with guitars" band, right up there with my faves.

Tennis: Pollen

Like the gentle spring wind that blows across a cafe in Paris, the latest album by Denver's Tennis has been soothing my soul these last couple of weeks. Pollen is yet another release from this outfit that makes me feel like summer on the inside and it's very much needed with all the piles of snow outside my window.

Here is the opening track recently performed live...

Sg Lewis: Audiolust & Higher Love (Album of the Week)

Reading's own Sg Lewis is back with another triumphant club/dance record that will knock your socks right on your ass! Audiolust & Higher Love is the master of a VIP, limited edition lifestyle. And it's just fucking cool.

Where's my blue drink for that last turn around the club in the wee hours of the morning?

The Beauty of Andy Bell (Brit Rock Spotlight)

Andy Bell has produced some of his best music in the last two years and it's time that the pride of Cardiff was more widely recognized as the god-like genius that he is. Whether it's singles, EPs, or albums, Bell's recent work is shoegaze, dream pop heaven.

Example:

His ability to craft perfect psych-pop is unparalleled as well.

The cinematic quality of his music is literally mind-expanding.

When I listen to his music, I often feel as if the soul of Cardiff and all its stories are swirling around in my head...

Pick up his entire catalog. It's well worth it.

We Are Scientists: Lobes

NYC's own We Are Scientists are back with their eighth long player and it's an absolute corker. Lobes is all the pure pop joy one would expect from Keith and Chris. I've always been particularly impressed by their keyboard arrangements and this latest record really showcases this talent.

Here is one of my favorite tracks...

Popcaan: Great Is He (Album of the Week)

Reggae music is alive and well in the warm and soulful hands of Popcaan (aka Andrae Hugh Sutherland).  Great Is He is the fourth record for the pride of Saint Thomas Parish, Jamaica and it is a masterpiece. He's basically created his own universe of power, passion, and appreciation of Jah and all things that flow from him!
