Dylan LeBlanc Live @ The Turf Club, St. Paul, MN. 3 Feb 2024

Dylan LeBlanc is out on the road and I caught him last night at The Turf Club. What a show. For nearly two hours, the Louisiana native propelled his way through slinky and spiritual numbers that made me want to go on a long drive on a darkened highway.

And also fall in love...

His songs explore romance in a very unique way that goes along with his style (Daniel Lanois, Chris Isaak, Ryan Adams).

LeBlanc has a keen sense of the human condition. Combine that with the fact that he is a musician's musician (The Cactus Blossoms attended the show and were standing behind me) and it's a powerful sonic concoction.

He started off with the laid back, mellow tracks from his last two albums (Coyote and Renegade). The highlight for me during this part of the set was "Dust" which honestly made me cry the first time I heard it. Just the sheer beauty...

Then he and the band cranked it up and played the louder stuff, ending with a four song encore that blew the roof off of the place.

His signature sound of loads of echo really sounded amazing on these heavier songs.

LeBlanc is on tour for the next several weeks. I highly recommend you check out his show when he comes to your town.

Dylan LeBlanc: Coyote (Album of the Week)

I guess it's going to be a Louisiana love kind of few days here at MarkiesMusic because my pick for Album of the Week is yet another fine musician from the bayou. Dylan LeBlanc has released yet another absolute stunner of a record. Coyote is amazing from start to finish with its sway, swagger and lyrical beauty.

It starts of slinky...

..and then just gets ethereal...

I love albums that expand your mind and make you feel safe and warm in their loneliness...

Track #3 of 2019: Renegade by Dylan LeBlanc

The great state of Louisiana should be very proud of yet another amazing contribution to the world, Dylan LeBlanc. The title track off his latest effort, Renegade, is pure Americana laced with gold. Every late-night lover drive is encapsulated in this track and yet is it really about romance?

My pick for #3 this year.

Dylan LeBlanc: Renegade (Album of the Week)

Recently I discovered Lousiana treasure Dylan LeBlanc and I feel so grateful that I did. His latest release, Renegade, is fucking astounding. All ten tracks are completely wonderful and, if they were women, I'd passionately kiss each and every one. LeBlanc has managed to twist up romantic relationships, love, and Americana so perfectly that this disc is easily in contention for Album of the Year.

Here is the opening track which also happens to be the title track as well...

LeBlanc is also on tour. Check him out when he comes to your town.
