Laura Marling's latest effort, Patterns In Repeat, is a quiet affair that examines the intricacies of life, love and family. It's the latter that really got to me emotionally. Her songs about her first child are deep and heartfelt.

Cardiff's own Underworld has very fine new record out that delves into the even deeper joys of electronic paradise. Strawberry Hotel is a complete wonder that sends the mind on many cosmic journeys into the unknown.

I am quite loving oh so much the latest release from Nashville's own Soccer Mommy. It's a deep exploration, both thematically and stylistically, of the feminine soul and all its rays of light.

London Grammar is back with their fourth record. The Greatest Love is their greatest record and one of the best of the year. The album opens with an imperial declaration.

Then they take it down a notch stylistically but not thematically. 

Then comes the track that would make all of their hometown of Nottingham proud.

New York's own Phantogram have a new record out that is filled with attitude and bombast. Memory of a Day is all power with no brakes!

Just stunningly beautiful which is pretty much perfect because he's a stunningly beautiful human.

Jerry Cantrell is back with I Want Blood, an album that, upon first listen, waves of nostalgia washed over me. I loved the grunge era of music...so honest and LOUD! His latest record adds yet another stunner to the genre.

Paul Weller has a released a mighty fine supplement to his record that came out earlier this year. Supplement: 66 has four wonderful songs that deeply evoke love and happiness. This man has such a great life plan!

The Smile: Cutouts

The Smile are a curious and fun band. Their latest is called Cutouts and it sees this mini supergroup stretching their legs and reaching for the cosmos. 

I quite like this track...
