Sometimes what makes a good autumn song is simply the time of year it was released. The Unforgettable Fire by U2 was released on October 1, 1984 and the months that followed were filled with its whispering embers from a brightly glowing hearth, keeping me warm as the winter rolled across Lake Michigan.
The title track from the album floods my mind with memories of my senior year in high school...with all the fury and passion that comes right before a finale. Even later, driving back and forth between Minneapolis and Racine during my first few years of college, this track went quite well with Wisconsin vistas and the rolling, dark hills of the fall...
